How often should I feed my baby? Tips for Infant
Just like humans, newborns signal and demand for their feed. They indicate to us by signs such as rooting or looking for the nipple or licking their tongue wriggling, getting a little fussy. If we do not follow these signs the baby begins to cry. Taking crying baby for feeding can be rather difficult, it is because the baby will be struggling and impatient before they attach to the breast. So it is advisable to take the child at the early cues of feeds and feed your baby frequently. Initially the babies are drowsy and they can feed for an average of around 2 to 3 hours between feeds. This pattern is considered very normal. On an average the baby will feed for 8 to 10 times in 24 hours. Feeding more than 10 times is also another pattern and is considered absolute normal. The moral is feed to demand and follow your baby’s hunger cues.
